Amplitude Definition - What is Amplitude?

Amplitude by definition is the measurement of change over one single period. For an audio context it is the change of the volume of a recording from one position to another. A great example of this is the volume tuner on a CD player or radio player. When you change the volume you are either increasing or decreasing the sound by some amount of amplitude. That is how you tell how loud something is or not that loud. The word amplifier comes from this word and basically make the sound louder and is increasing the amplitude of a noise in an audio context.
